Establishment of SCNS

Standard College of Nursing Sciences is formally established in Minna, Niger State, receiving provisional approval from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). The College opens its doors to the inaugural cohort of nursing students, marking the beginning of a transformative educational journey for the North-Central region.

2021 — Growth
Expansion of Programmes & Facilities

SCNS launches the Basic Midwifery programme, broadening its educational portfolio. The College invests in modern simulation laboratories and clinical training facilities, partnering with affiliated teaching hospitals in Niger State to provide students with hands-on clinical experience in real healthcare settings.

2022 — Accreditation
Full NMCN Accreditation Achieved

Following rigorous institutional review, SCNS receives full accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for its Nursing Sciences and Midwifery programmes. This milestone validates the College's commitment to curriculum quality, faculty excellence, and clinical training standards. Post-Basic programmes are introduced for qualified Registered Nurses seeking specialization.

Community Nursing & Midwifery Launched

Recognising the critical healthcare needs of underserved communities across Niger State and beyond, SCNS introduces 2-year Certificate programmes in Community Nursing and Community Midwifery. These programmes are designed to produce healthcare workers equipped to deliver primary healthcare at the grassroots level, addressing gaps in rural and peri-urban communities.
